    Mixed format ?

This is probably a silly question.. or maybe one that's unanswerable ?

I'm trying to backup a set of IFR training DVD's. There's a setup disc (that I've learned is actually a CD) that copied and runs fine. It sets up like a main menu to access several other DVDs.. interactively. I started compressing and burning the DVDs, but of course, even though they copied with apparently no problem.. they could not be called up by the intalled program. A little poking around and I found that the audio/video stuff copied fine.. BUT.. there were a couple of other files that I don't think DVD-shrink even reckognized. My best guess is that they're regular data/executable/index files, that the running program has to find before playing the audio/video stuff.

Is this a do-able project ? Can I get the "other" files copied along with the compressed audio/video stuff ?

I thought about just imaging the whole DVD, but of course it's too big to burn uncompressed.

I'm kinda stuck.. and having been on the giving/recieving end of advice-ful forums for many years.. I'm hoping to be a reciever..again

    Thanks,, Brett..

Yes it is. I would use Nero Burning ROM for this.

Use Shrink on the video like you have done so far. Backup to a folder on the hard disc. Then copy and paste the PC files into the disc directory. Make sure each file is in the same place as the original.

Then, use Nero in DVD Video mode. Put the Shrinked files in the video_ts files first. Then put the other files in the compilation as well (in their right places). This is important. Make sure you do the video_ts files first then the other files.

    Then burn a disc.

You could try using a DVD RW first and then see if the program works with the disc.

You could look at this FAQ about general Nero burning. It shows the video_ts on the DVD and it can work out where to put the other files.

In addition to the suggestion by "nwg", perhaps a little clarification is in order:

      How to include other files:

      1) Do NOT create an .ISO image file! Instead create the complete set of individual files (.IFOs, .BUPs, .VOBs)

      2) Do NOT set DVD Shrink to automatically burn with either NERO or DVD Decrypter

      3) Use NERO (INDEPENDENTLY) as follows (In EXACTLY this sequence):

      Set to "DVD-Video" mode

FIRST: Place the complete set of individual files (.IFOs, .BUPs, .VOBs) into NERO's RED "VIDEO_TS" folder

THEN: Copy all other files (the ones that are NOT in the "VIDEO_TS" folder) from the ORIGINAL DVD to NERO's ROOT DIRECTORY (NOT to the "VIDEO_TS" folder). These files are NOT copy protected.

      Burn the DVD...
