Pioneer DVR 107D - Win 2000 reads as ROM

I'm in IT and it always feels like there's more stuff I bloody don't know about that can go wrong..oh well I'll keep learning!

I've got a Pioneer DVR 107D, I installed it and it works fine as a rom but win 2000, won't detect it as a DVR. I have tried downloading some firmware (official) but it doesn't work. Then I realised I want it multi-region anyhow so I should ask you experienced tecchies, what to do!! Also it won't recognise it on Nero (official) I think this would be solved if the problem of windows applying a rom driver to it is solved, but my logic could be flawed!

Some help would be appreciated, actually any help or advise would be great!!

    Thanks

    Annita

    welcome to the forum

what configuration is the 107 set to ? (master, slave, primary, 2ndry. & any other drive on the same data cable).
have you checked if there's a bios upgrade for your m/board ?

Thanks for the questions they prompted me and I checked and played with it a bit and somehow the DVDR and my rom were both reading as MA (on same cable)??!!! I know I don't know how that worked! But I've fixed it so that the Pioneer is MA and the rom is SL.

Now Nero picks up the drive and burns but I got the attached error msg. I tried playing the disk in the DVD player with the TV and it reads the CD... I'm not sure if the error will cause problems later. Also I still have a region issue. I haven't checked for a m/board update, should I?

Hope this is of some use:

no need to upgrade m/board bios (if your drives are being detected now). instead, upgrade your nero

        ## Burn process failed at 24x ##
you state dvd player & tv but, you also state "cd".
your intentions (along with the nero log) are not clear on what you're trying to burn (dvd or cd) ?

        re: region issue.
did you try the link on my 1st post ?

Ok trying to deal with the region issues from the link, thanks. I haven't tried burning DVD's yet I was just trying to get it to burn a set of wav tracks to cd, I think most DVD players play CD's now too, no? I've upgraded nero and I'll update this when I get a bit further. Thanks for everything, really appreciate it.

Before you ever try to burn a DVD - update your firmware. You have 1.05 installed - it's very old. http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1754
