    panasonic DMR-E85HS Upgrade

Hey I have a DMR-E85HS DVD Recorder with a built in 120G HD

Any one know if it is possible to put a bigger HD in? say a 250G ?

If so any suggestions before I open this up would be great.

    Thanks alot

    welcome to the forum

your main concern should be that you don't void the warranty (if any).
your best bet would be to ask the manufacturer or the service agent/s, as i think you will find that it takes slightly more than just simply swapping/changing hdd's

I wouldn't think the control circuitry of the recorder would be as 'intelligent' as a PC to identify for itself the hard drive size.
That said, it could just be a case of a jumper on the circuit board .. somewhere!
Also, the drive may be modified, therefore not standard, or 2.5 inch.

..but we'd be very interested to hear from you if you want to go ahead and try
This isn't a learning curve ... this is b****y mountaineering!

if only it was the 70's or 80's. then you would have stood a chance - as it would have been highly likely printed on circuit-board but, you never know ......
if you can get your hands on the "technical manual", it just might refer to the settings you may need
