    LG burner disc recognision

Hi all, can someone please help a newbie? I had a LG4081B burner for 12 months working well. My system crashed whilst encoding and hence my drive didn't recognise any blank discs. I tried making it Master etc and updated the firmware (which only crashed the sys again). I returned it to LG who sent me an updated version 4163B but after one burn, it's now doing the same. Also when I watch the drive in My Computer, whilst trying to load a bland disc, the Icon changes from CD/DVDRAM to just CD, and when I click the drive, it says Not Accessible, incorrect function. I can still play back a dvd though.
I am getting really desperate here, any help would be much appreciated.

I can still play DVD's, bought or ones that I have burnt, on the drive, it finds them okay.

I may have found a cure, just trying it now. I'm using Datawrite blanks as I've always used with no problems. I am using XP with SP2. Someone just suggested trying ticking a box Recording,
R click Drive, Properties, Recording, Enable CD recording on this drive? I did that and it said something about using HP DLA rather that XP?

a long-shot but, did your problems start just after you installed "sp2" ?

let me guess - ticking it didn't work (?)

No they didn't start just after I installed SP2, that was a while ago.
Yes, you got it, ticking the box didn't work. Still "not accessible, incorrect function".

are you trying to read your blank discs (from your other thread too) ?

I have just managed to copy/burn a disk. I checked Nero Info Tool and that now says "all ASPI's are okay and working". Before it said they were corrupt or overwritten with older ones? I also checked on the "Record Tab" of Info and it showed the DVD/RW which told me it may be working. And it is. Thanks all for all the help, it's very much appreciated.
