Help with DVD Drive reading backed up DVD's

I'm rather confused about my DVD player on my computer. Whenever I burn a movie on my Sony Dual Layer DRU-710 DVD Burner and try to play it on my LG DVD drive it does not recognize the disc. It trys to read the disc for a few minutes (LED light is constantly on). But then it stops and the computer does not recognize that there is a disc in the drive.

Can anyone offer any suggestions?

your "LG DVD drive", does it have a model # ?
