DVD Shrink used to shrink & burn

Hi,

I used to backup my DVD's with DVD Shrink, but I haven't really had a need to for a while.

Anyway, back in the day I would launch DVD Shrink, hit backup, and an hour and a half and a couple of clicks later my original DVD would be dubbed to my blank DVD disc.

I never had to use Nero or anything other than DVD Shrink.

Can anyone tell me please why this is not happening for me now?

Or maybe easier, if someone can tell me the configurations required for DVD Shrink to shrink and burn.

I will appreciate any help that's for sure.

You can get by with DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink. Due to the new ARccOS copy control, DVD Shrink can't decrypt everything that's around. So the idea is to rip first then load the ripped files into DVD Shrink with the open files command.

To burn from DVD Shrink click Backup --> Select backup target --> ISO image file and burn with DVD Decrypter.

Get the newest versions of DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink from my sig.

No. You need DVD Decrypter. And an extra 8Gb or so of hard drive (along with the 4.4Gb you need for DVD Shrink's output files).

Not if the disc has something like ArcoSS. These are recent Sony/Columbia Tristar DVD's.

I have had success with using DVD43free at the same time as Shrink. It will allow Shrink to read those difficult DVD's.

The guys over at DVD Decrypter Support say this prog interfers with DVD Decrypter. Many people are reporting problems with it.

I fear sounding like a real idiot, but late last year I backed up about 10 of my DVD's...feature films...all with DVD Shrink and no other software.

I'm happy to go about it using your suggestions, but I'm pretty amazed that in a short time, they same DVD Shrink that did it all, now can't do it.

That sounds unpossible!

Not on my system. I have both installed (along with AnyDVD). There wouldn't any point in running both at the same time as they both decrypt.

I use DVD Decrypter when I want to edit the files afterwards. If I want to do a straight copy or re-author then I use Shrink with DVD43 or AnyDVD.

Yeah I did actually.

I take it that DVD Srink is not the way to go these days?

I have downloaded decrypter. I'll use that with Nero huh?

I just ran DVD43 and DVD decrypter at the same time. I put a DVD through DVD Decrypter and it worked fine.

As I expected, it shows N/A in the place where the decryption key is logged. DVD43 is decypting before DVD Decrypter rips the files.

As I said before a while ago. Maybe I am lucky as some people do seem to have problems.

Maybe so, but the guys over at DDSF seem to be saying it gets in the way of their rip. But in your case, it is clearly decrypting first and then handing over to DVD Decrypter.
