firmware question

i have no idea what firmware does for my dvd rw drive, i checked out the update but not sure which one to download or even if i should. these are my options below. it says at the site that you can ruin your drive it if done wrong or something like that

Go for the DONA version - it's the latest. You can also update from Windows with this one. (No need to use DOS mode).

Close down all other programs.
Don't have any disc in your burner.
Restart your PC after the flashing.

Be Dangerous and think about using the DBs firmware. I have not heard that their RPC1 firmware has ever done anything bad to a drive.

Dangerous Brothers don't have a patch for the latest version of the firmware.

Burner firmware updates typically let the burner properly handle more and different brands/formats/speeds of burnable media...


By the way, it's not a very good idea to install software on your system, when you don't understand what it does...
