Error Message & Failure During Burn

I hope I can get help here. I have the latest version of DVD shrink & DVD Decrypter. My OS is Windows XP with plenty of RAM. My burner is a I/O Magic 16X double layer drive. I've updated the firmware and used blanks of different speeds including 16x and followed the guides for the program preferences. I've tried burning after putting the movie in a separate folder or omitting that step; using the decrypter before using the shrink & using just the shrink with the decrypter at the same time but the burning process always fails about halfway thru the burn. Here is the error message where things start to go wrong:

Can you please post the whole log?

One thing I can see from that partial log is (And more than likely your big problem) your burner doesn't like that brand of media:

Error Message & Burn Failure

The ugly part is my friend has the exact same software installed on her PC and has sucessfully burned 2 movies so far. The only difference is, her burner came installed on her PC, mine was purchased separately.

"Nero API version: 6.3.1.17"
Upgrade your version of Nero. That version has alot of bugs in it. Upgrade here, download "Package 1" : http://www.nero.com/us/nero-up.php

I recommend burning no faster than 4X to start out with.

I am trying to find your burner's firmware. Your burner must have came with your computer, or is a generic.

Do me a favor and download this program, run it and come back here and reply with what it said. - http://flashman.rpc-1.com/Firmware/D...are_detect.exe

Never mind, I found it. You have the latest firmware installed.

(Disregard my last step)

Upgrade your Nero and burn at 4X, see if that fixes it.

It appears that it's locked at 'Maximum' burn speed and it adjusts for the blank medium used. I can't see how to change it manually.

"It appears that it's locked at 'Maximum' burn speed and it adjusts for the blank medium used. I can't see how to change it manually."

In DVD Shrink, UNclick "Burn with NERO" - and MANUALLY use NERO to burn. In doing so, from within NERO, you'll be able to select the burn speed...

Better still, chuck out Nero which is crap and from DVD Shrink, click Backup --> Select backup target --> ISO image file and burn with DVD Decrypter. Install DVD Decrypter from my sig, if required.

To get rid of Nero - use its clean tool - http://www.nero.com/en/Nero_6_Clean_Tool.html
