    Go here and download this program. - http://flashman.rpc-1.com/Firmware/D...are_detect.exe

    After you download it, run it, and it will come up with a screen telling you the brand of the burner you have and the current firmware version currently installed for it.

      I already know the answer...
      Recorder: <MAT****A DVD-RAM UJ-831S>Version: 1.50 - HA 0 TA 1 - 6.6.0.12
      You have version 1.50.

                It's an ACER notebook. Could be tricky to open up that one. I guess we leave it closed.

                In your package delivered with the notebook - is there a place you can go to for technical services.

                I've looked in the Acer web page but I can't find any firmware for a DVD burner at that location.

                  Matsu****a burners are tricky and picky. You have to experiment with media to find the brand that it "likes".

                      "maxell work!"

                      Glad to hear that! Sometimes it's as simple as a media change ;>}

                      Enjoy your burning now!
