Vobblanker and Pcgedit

Hi guys,

Sorry if this is a dim question but here goes. I have started to get into the more "advanced" side of dvd backup and have just found Vobblanker (have been using pcgedit to make the iso and burn for a while).

I have blanked some stuff using Vobblanker but am not sure why pcgedit would be required - does vobblanker not do the whole job or is it that the menu items are still there but the items removed?

Is there an idiots guide to this as all the guides I can find are quite involved.

The VobBlanker and PgcEdit sites have some pretty good guides MrE. As far as blanking is concerned, PgcEdit is great for whole titlesets as it replaces the titleset in a flash. If you want to edit on the cell level, like cutting a movie or blanking just a cell or ONE title of a multi-titled titleset, VobBlanker is the go.

VobBlanker also has a menu to stills function (like MenuShrink) whereas PgcEdit is more of a command processor, menu editor and debugger.

Hope this helps. The doom9 IFO/VOB editors forum (see here) is the place to discuss these tools as both r0lZ and jsoto are always on there.

And yes, these tools are at the pointy end and take some time to learn, especially PgcEdit.

Thanks - I think that did help. I had a quick go and seemed to be able to blank out some trailers and then removed the menu items. Seemed to work well and reduced the size quite a lot.

I think I will have a little play. Thanks for the help.

Welcome mate. Yup playing around is the way to go for sure. PgcEdit's kill playback is great too, once space isn't a problem.

And the menu editor just rocks. Have lotsa fun.
