    Help!!!!

Hello, ive a problem, i have been backing up my dvd's for ages now and never realy had any problems, recently using the same sortware/hardware and blank discs etc i find that when i come to play back the dvd it just spins in the player and then ejects and says pleae insert a disc, i rip the disc as always using dvd shrink and burn the files using nero, i can see on the disc that there has been information burnt on the disc yet it seems as if its blank, to confuse me even more i able to burn music cd's fine using the same recorder therefore i am at a loss as to what is wrong, any help gratefully recieved.

"i find that when i come to play back the dvd it just spins in the player and then ejects"

    1) Is this happening ONLY in a specific standalone DVD player, or ONLY on your PC's DVD-ROM or burner - or does this happen no matter what you are using to try to playback the burned disc?

    2) Try running a DVD/CD cleaning disc on your (which ever) playback unit. Maxell makes one that retails for approximately $10 US...

Thanks for the quick reply setarip, yes this happens on all the players i have, 2 standalone players and 3 pc drives all with the same outcome. As for cleaning the player, well i now back up my dvd's on my old p.c (luckly still have it) and they work fine on all the players, all be it that it takes about 3 times as long to do the whole process (much slower machine).
Thanks again for the quick response!

Then it sounds like your primary burner is failing. Rather than giving up on it, I'd still suggest that you try running a DVD/CD cleaning disc on that troublesome burner...

Different laser frequencies and modulations are used...
