    strange? avi files seem bigger

Hello all, i need your wisdom...I am using ulead movie factory to convert and burn avi (xvid) files on to a dvd so i can watch them on my tv. The thing is when im imputing these files on to ulead from there proper size 350mb they became 2.7 each...so i can only write one file per dvd (what a waste of space!) Has anyone any idea as to what should i do? the codec used for the file is xvid mpeg4 for video and mp3g layer 3 for audio....I can play the files perfectly with no problems...Thanks ya all....

Ulead is "converting" (the proper term is encoding) your files to mpeg-2 dvd spec, then authoring them.
    It's a fact of life, mpeg-2 doesn't compress as well as xvid/divx.
Learn about bitrates, dvd mpeg-2, and your encoder settings.

      To delarus

In simple and general terms, an hour of video, no matter how it was originally compressed (DivX, XviD, .MOV, MPEG-1, etc.) will become approximately 2Gb in DVD-Video format...
