Hi:
Would someone mind giving quick advice to a newbie learning how to backup DVD movies onto DVD-R's?
I have a toshiba laptop with a Cd burner/DVD-Rom and a Hi-Val external USB 2.0 DVD burner. I am using DVD Shrink to rip/compress the movies to my hard drive (from my laptop's CD/DVD drive) and then DVD Shrink uses Nero Express to burn the DVD onto my Hi-Val external Burner. I've been using CompUSA 2x DVD-Rs. The movies I've ripped have been unencrypted, but I have a copy of DVD Decrypter if needed.
I was having no problems ripping and burning my DVDs and usually just run it before I go to sleep. I even tested the burned DVD-Rs in both my laptop drive and a cheap standalone, and the movie started fine in all instances.
HOWEVER, since I've gone back to watch a couple of them, I've found that they skip/freeze/become pixelated after a couple chapters into them!
What is the most likely problem and how do I troubleshoot? The cheap DVD Burner? The cheap CompUSA DVD-R's? Would switching to DVD X Copy (pre court ruling) help?
My biggest concern (besides the wasted time and money on the dvds) is that I want to back up my 20 gigs of music on my hard drive, but don't want to have to listen to every song to make sure it is archived on the DVD-R ok.
Thank you very much in advance.
