Newbie Coaster MaKer needs help with error message!!

Getting error message when trying to write backup using Dvd Decrypter:

DeviceIocontrol(FSCTL_Lock_Volume)Failed!
Unable to unlock volume for exclusive access.

Reason: Access is denied.

I am using a new HP Pavilion zd8000.

Also, can't figure out how to reduce the write speed from 8x to 4x as recommended.

Welcome to the forums heatus!

That error means that something else (a different program) is trying to access or has access to your burner. Perhaps its a "Packet Writing" program such as InCD, DLA or Drag to Disc. If it is any of them, disable them. Better yet, uninstall them.

Under the box on the right hand side, it will say "Settings", then right under that it will say "Write Speed:". It will have a drop down box that will allow you to change the write speed.

as jmet stated if your using nero incd seems to give alot of problems. I uninstalled incd and is working much better

Thanks for the help. I shut down my Roxio drag to disc and that seemed to have solved the problem. These are very sweet programs and the video backup quality is quite good. Thanks to all the developers of this board.

a good way to stop making "coasters" is to invest in a rw disc. it's funny how few people use these when problems start....
