I have a optorite dvd rw dd1205. Ive burned lots of movies with it and it works great. The thing is that Im not sure if it has that 'lock' on it that only lets it read discs at 2x. I know it depends on the dvd and the decryption used when determining how fast it will encode. So does anyone know for sure if this drive has that lock? Is there a firmware hack available to get past it? Thanks alot!
I need a little info on my burner.

I have an optorite dd0203 and I have ripped an uncompressed D5 dvd in app 8 minutes. For firmware check here http://forum.rpc1.org/portal.php or do a google search -
well i just did a test and reripped a copy that I have. It wasnt encrypted and the fastest it got up to was around 8,000 kb/s. It took about 10 minutes wich isnt bad...but shouldnt it go faster than that. I just want my drive to work to its potential. I went to that site and i found one firmware there for my drive. it doesnt appear to have improved things.. guess im stuck with what ive gotComment

I don't know about the dd1205 but 8000 kbs isn't to bad. I've seen alot worse. the fastest I ever got was around 12000 kbpsComment
