Shrink/Nero Sees DVD+R DL as CD-R

Trying my first DVD-9 burn using DVD Shrink with a Verbatim DVD+R DL blank in a Sony DRX-710UL.

Nero seems to think I have a CD in the drive. Do I need to format the DVD +R DL disc or is it bad or am I just too green, or what? Thanks for any insights ...

Cynthia, I'm powerfully embarassed. I found your post about new versions of Nero and problems with dual layer, but I thought that Data mode did not apply to my issue. I posted my question while I was downloading Nero. It seems to be working now, but I'll only know after the burn is completed.
