    this thread is teetering....!

i'm giving you the benefit of the doubt here but regardless your post is not breaching any existing forum rules.

"The following posts are acceptable, and should be posted in their respective forums (eg. DivX - Encoding) :

If you only mention a video file (eg. "I downloaded an AVI file from Kazza" or "I downloaded a movie file from Kazza").

If you don't mention you got the movie from a P2P source (eg. "I have downloaded a movie" or "I have a movie and I want to burn it as a VCD")"

you likely downloaded avi files, which are not for dvd shrink.dvd shrink is for backing up commercial dvd's YOU own. if you mean you downloaded a "movie file" ???, one set of procedures to put on a dvd are:

    1) Use "TMPGEnc" (or "TMPGEncPlus") to convert the .AVI (DivX-compressed or otherwise) to compliant MPEG2-for-DVD format - Use "TMPGEnc's" DVD wizard/template to accomplish this

    2) Use "TMPGEnc DVD Author" (a different program than "TMPGEnc") to easily create the required additional DVD files and structure (and chapters and a menu, if you wish)

**If the combined filesize of the DVD "package" written to your hard drive is greater than 4.37Gb, use DVD Shrink (or similar) to compress

If your O/S is either Win2000 or WinXP, TMPGEnc DVD Author can also burn your DVD. Otherwise, use NERO to burn in "DVD-Video" mode
(As an alternative to "TMPGEnc DVD Author", you could use "DVDLab")

as a friendly piece of advice, if you are not privy to the details of the rules you may wish to read them here before your next post. Pay particular attention to rule #6

DVD Shrink only works with DVD content. Your "download" is probably a standalone AVI or MPEG file. So unless you have an entire DVD "downloaded" with the ifo, vob and bup files, Shrink won't do a thing for you. You'd have to author.

Another solution is to buy the DVD legally.

convert the file to a dvd compliant meg 1/2 (I like mainconcept) free= Dvd2svcd or similiar
author the mpeg with an authoring program such as Tmpgenc dvd author
burn with your favorite burning software
