I heard these burners were burning decent DVD's with the stock firmware so I got one and gave it a test with a 8x burn of a backup of Son Of the Mask on a TDK 8x DVD+R CMCMAGE01


Attached is a Kprobe Scan of the burn....not bad at all

I figured I give the drive a test on media that a lot of people think is junk and it burned it nice at 8x

you should try a prodisc ID and maybe a princo. those were absolute garbage in my lite-on. i bought a few singles a long time ago for the hell of it (wanted to experiment) i don't think a single good burn came about with those...

i've always said CMC is good stuff, you just need the right burner to have success

I think I have some memorex -r prodiscf01 that worked great in my standalone. I'll give 'em a shot tomorrow.

Nah, who would do that? That would be like making a phony menu to grab the Menu Shrink #1 position. Hmmmm.....yeah, that's the ticket

I tell you jm, you can construct a 4Gb menu easily. And it would be full of stills!!!! Just author in a heapen helpin' of unreffed material. MenuShrink would just kill it by default and you'd have the record.

blutach I believe the phony menu could be done, I was just referring to that as the same as doctoring up a scan. mg:

I know you were kidding about the CMC scan being doctored up, I was kinda surprised myself at the results until I seen others just as good or better. You should see some of the 16x burn scans this thing is puttin' out. I'm gonna keep the speed up with this until I see negative results or get a speeding ticket
