But the burner is an external USB burner. Thats probably why I can't find master and slave.

Verify the new burner works on another computer.

If you tried it on a different computer and it did the same thing, I would say the burner is "burnt" toast.

I didn't try the new burner on a different computer though. I will try it as soon as I can.

              Could try this one:

Go into device manager, right click on USB devices, select properties, and do a search for updated drivers. The search will find any new ones and install the appropriate drivers.

It says "Found new hardware. A problem occurred during hardware installation. Your new hardware might not work properly."

Perhaps you should try to update the chipset drivers for the USB channels. If you have a DELL - you should be able to find more info on the homepage for DELL.

I don't think it did anything but reset my desktop icons and the resolution setting on my desktop.

It seems as if I need to update the software from this site but none of the links (including the required update) will not work for me. Does this work for anyone else, or is there another way to get these updates?

I checked the link and the links seem to work, they open another window that wants log on information. But I fail to see how upgrading your Roxio software is going to help you with a hardware problem.

Step back, resolve your device conflicts with the USB bus first.
