Nero 6 dvd seems empty after successful burn

Hi there,
Let me begin by saying this drive works fine and I have been using it to copy DVDs via other software. I am running XP Pro with a Phillips drive.

I am trying to save some data files onto my DVD via nero 6. I named the disk and burned it. Nero reported it completed fine and even verified fine. When I go to look at it from the same drive that burned it, it appears blank.

This happened when I tried using ISO1 format. I tried the UDF format, but it died very quickly (I don't remember the error.)

Any help would be much appreciated

If these are just general data files, ISO should work fine, but you may need to close the disk for Explorer to read them.

Try nero express, data disk, works for dvd's also. dvd-r or dvd+r

The data that I am saving on the DVD are about 4-5 very large avi's. I'm not trying to create a "movie disk", I just want to save the movies as data files.

I thought I selectect "finalize" when I created the disk.

I went through the menus and did some quick searching to see how to finalize the disk to no avail. There used to be something like "import session" to be able to add another session or finalize, but I couldn't find it.

I tried recently again with nero express with the same results (although that time I am sure I did not finalize the disk.)

Sorry - I forgot to include that information. I am using HP dvd+r 8x (faster than my phillips recorder)

I also went looking to see if I could find an update for my drive's firmware - nope.

I did see that there are some issues with finalizing a dvd after it has been written with nero, however.

Your Operating system?
and version of nero?

if the disk/s aren't finalizing try using dvddecrypter to finalize the disk/s

This looks like a program to rip dvds and has nothing to do with writing. Am I finding the right one?
