Fake Disc ID ????

Everything alright ??

I just bought a box (10 jewelcase) of Verbatim advanced Azo+ printable 16x DVD-R!

I went to DVDdecrypter and read media information !
"the log is attached "


Notice de Disc ID -> Disc ID: 0@P-!-00


Is this normal , or is it a Fake ??

I didn't have the time to test the media .... nero only told me max rec. speed is 4x in my pioneer A07XLA ( max rec 8x)

Doesn't look all that good. Does your burner report every other type of blank OK? See also here.

tdk media id

Hi, Blutach!

I attached a media id of a TDK 8x dvd-r 4.7 GB !

It was also taken from DVDD 3.5.4.0 !

It's a bit different, altough same type of media (DVD-R 4,7 GB) , so i cannot reach a conclusion !

By the Mfr ID they look good see

Weird Disc ID ....

Hey dvdnewbie,

I won't say that I'm 100% sure that you're okay. I'm not an expert. But I recently purchased Taiyo Yuden TYG03 DVD-R 16X. They also have a weird disc ID. Looks something like what you posted.

So far no problems. Over 50 smooth burns. When I 1st got my TY's I was also concerned about them being fakes. I posted pretty much the same question on DVD Decryptor's Forum, and LUK and a few other experts said that I should be okay. They explained that the 16X DVD-Rs most probably came from the same batch, and that the discs were already made before they could fix the disc ID. The explanation went something like that ... LOL.

Since pioneer quit with the firmware updates in nov/2004 for that drive, save
yourself some trouble/money and buy older slower quality media.

I was frequently browsing the Pioneer website for firmware updates for my drive !

No luck ! You're right , they stopped doing it !!

I'll Keep with media upto 8x ( max rec. speed for my drive )!

Think your case is bad, I just got burned with Maxell 8x dvd+r's(made in tawain),
on my new LG 16x burner, first 2 coasters then after new update of firmware another coaster.
