My son brought his computer over to troubleshoot, he's been burning with TDK
8x dvd-r TTG02's, he kept getting a powercalibration error with NERO when
he tried to burn a movie. We upgraded nero, he had done his 3520 nec
firmware, same story, BUT he burned the maxell(ritek) and TY fine.
I finally took the disk(TDK) and got the same error on my machine.
End of story, even the best media can be bad, even after using 40+
off one spindle. BAD BLANK!

yup, it all depends on your writer. TDK works completely flawlessly on the two most recent LG drives...

perfect burns every time, all at 8x, so i buy nothing but TDK

I have been trying to get him to use my TY(MADE IN JAPAN),
I think after he reloaded his machine for the XXXXtime in the last
few months, this may be the proverbial straw!
He's still wet behind the ears.

I know you're talking about DVDs, but I just wanted to throw in that I have some neighbors across the street that I just told about TY CD-Rs for music (told them to order from Rima.com). They bought some crappy colored media that they are having all kinds of trouble with. Could be their computer, burning software or something else. I may go over there sometime some and check out their computer. I'll be ordering some TY DVD-Rs in about 3 months I think after my Ritek's (Ridata good ones) run out.

yeah, when i bought my first 50 spindle of sony's the very top one had a very noticeable scratch, i thought i'd burn it anyway and see what happenned. it burned fine, but the disc had a skip. i always look at the disc before i slam it into the writer---catch a lot of dust and stuff like that too, so yeah good media can by bad out of the box, i agree

He tried it on both his nec 3520's, one had the 3.05 and the other had the 2u2, my 2u2 same result, power calibration error
