burning dvd's

This might not be the right forum but, how can I burn a dvd from ms movie maker. I think you have to change the files some how but I am not sure. Any help would be appreciated or if you could point me to the right forum

1 convert the wmv to a compliant dvd mpeg 1/2 with a program such as mainconcept
2 author the converted mpeg 1/2 with a program such as Tmpgenc dvd Author
3 burn the output with your burning software

the programs you talked about are they freeware or where can i get them?
