Burning error. Somebody help.

I've had been using dvdd and dvd shrink for quite some time now with over 300 burns to speak of. just recently dvd shrink stop burning, rip and encode work fine so i just started to burn with dvdd but now that has stopped working too. it gets to about 50-75% and fails . the last thing i tried was seinfeld season 1 disc 1. the is the error log from nero i think, oh by the way i have tried imation +r disc which i used to get those 300 burns and now i am trying philips +r. what is the best brand of dvd+r.

Hi, you're problem appears to be incompatible media.

Recorder: ATAPI 2X16X4X16 DD DVD Version: G7C9 - HA 1 TA 0 - 6.3.1.18

I've done some searching and this appears to be an I/O Magic burner, which is actually a rebadged OEM BenQ 1620. The firmware version G7C9 is an old, obsolete firmware. I'd strongly recommend you upgrade the firmware. In fact I've found a method that will actually upgrade your burner to a DW1620 Pro.

Please bear in mind that crossflashing the drive will void it's warranty.
Go to the unofficial BenQ firmware page download WinDWFlash.exe (near the top of the page).
Do Not Download the B7V9 firmware package from this page, it will not work in your drive.

Instead you need to download the B7V9.cvt which is the latest official firmware.
Then use the WinDWFlash.exe with the B7V9.cvt firmware to upgrade the burner.

NOTE: You can only use the Bxxx.EXE firmware updates when your drive already has Bxxx firmware already in it, you cannot use the Bxxx.EXE firmware package to upgrade from Gxxx firmware. You must use the WinDWFlash.exe with the Bxxx.CVT firmware to perform the initial upgrade, DON'T use the Bxxx.exe files with WinDWFlash. After your drive is flashed with Bxxx firmware you can in the future flash to newer versions using the Bxxx.EXE updates.

oh boy i was hoping it would not get technical. sorry to ask but can you detail the instructions a little better i have never flashed anything. and when i followed the link i did not see a b7v9.cvt. p, s, t, m but no v. when i downloaded the windxflash.exe it came up as a .rar file how do you run those.

same problem with newer firmware(media is too new)
try 1 last burn after rebooting and shutting down everything else that you can
and run roxizap before rebooting

get rid of that pxhelp(sonic software?)

Still no luck

I ran RoxiZap and rebooted. still no luck. I'll pick up some other media and give that a try (though shouldn't the new firmware have taken care of that issue?)

Media was the ticket

Switched to Verbatim media and all is well. Unfortunately I have two spools equalling 100 discs that don't work in my burner!

Another tip here & if it has been mentioned I am sorry.If you are burning with Nero from Dvd Shrink uncheck it & burn manually.Then try those discs every once in a while.If it works good if it doesn't you haven't lost anything.
