dvd- to cd give up

iam trying to copy a dvd- to cd
i have used dvd decrypter and then dvd shrink but when i go to burn the files using copy to dvd it asks for compatiable media dvd but i want to burn this to a cd to play in my car

the dvd shrink page shows under compression settings on the right


audio
1. MPEG-1 2-ch unspecified 163MB

i can get the film to play in the screen on the bottom left but just wanna listen to the music in my ocar or stereo

i would be EXTREMEly grateful of any help (this is turning out to be a major pain and i know its probably something simple but as a novice i cant fathom it out

hi guys
i have been trying to copy a dvd- onto a cd that i may play in my car of household stereo

i have purchased several software packages dvd decrypter shrink copy to dvd and wizard pro 6 to name a few

i am a total novice

i just cannot complete this (what seems to me an impossible task but to some of youse so easy) i'm pulling my hair out

i have got the movie in my c drive it plays in shrink on the small screen at the bottom but every time i go to burn it keeeps asking for compatible media dvd + or - or RW but i wannna burn it to a cd i know theres probably a novices guide out there but i just cant get them to work does any one have super novices guide that i can follow
heres hoping OR IF ANYONE LIVES NEAR ROMFORD IN ESSEX I'LL PAY YOU TO DO IT FOR ME I'M THAT DESPERATE

I've never done it, don't think I could stand the loss of quality and don't see the point now that dvd burners and blanks are so cheap. But anyway, here's a guide you could try http://www.divx-digest.com/articles/...rdianknot.html

In order to process anything with your DVD, you have to first decrypt and save it to your hard drive with DVD Decrypter or DVD Shrink. Here is the trick:

1- If you want to convert your DVD (mpeg-2) to VCD (mpeg-1) to be able to fit it on a CD, you can rename all of your saved .vob files into .mpg files, use TMPGEnc for converting to VCD (mpeg-1), and then burn it with Nero. One thing you have to remember, like Taelon mentioned about quality reduction when you encode from one format to the others

2- If you want to extract only the audio files from your DVD and create audio CD which you can play with CD player, you should also rename all of your .vob files into .mpg files, open them one at a time with VirtualDubMod, and then go to Streams->Stream list->Save WAV. VirtualDubMod will create your .wav files and you have to probably need an audio editor such as Nero Wave Editor or Audacity to clean them up and make audio CD

Not sure what you are trying to do.

A DVD is 7 times the size of a CD so the only way to get it to one CD is to use DivX or convert to a VCD/SVCD like mentioned above. You will only get the main film.

If you just want the audio I can recommend trying this trial software. It converts a DVD straight to MP3, WAV etc. Then the files can be used to create a audio cd in software such as Nero.

Richard - how big are all the files in the temporary DVD Shrink output folder?

Can your car's system play DVD files?

If you just wanna play the music from a music DVD, you need to demux (split the DVD file into its video, audio and subtitle streams, but in your case the audio is the one you want). To demux - use PgcDemux - available form the VobBlanker site in my signature. Just load up the VTS concerned and tick audio and process.

After that you will have an AC3 file which you can convert to an MP3 with beSweet - see here.

not worried about quality thing
the dvd in question is coldplay live at glastonbury 2005
just wanna listen to the audio in my car stereo which does play mp3/wma
i also copy dvds of an adu*t nature for sale which take for ever whereas the ones i've copied on cd/vcd burn in no time at all
still a bit confused to be honest
like i said before if someone lives in the essex area willing to pay or travel for someone to help me out with this
perhaps if you know someone i'm totally lost
