    Constant DVD-RW burn errors

I recently acquired (rather than purchased!) a new I/O Magic DVD burner. The label on the burner is MagicSpin. I realize this is certainly not top-of-the-line. In fact, I'm sure it's somewhere near the bottom. Nonetheless, I've got it.

I picked up some Maxell 2x DVD-RW discs and some Maxell 8x DVD-R to try out.

The drive came bundled with Nero and I also downloaded and tried ImgToolBurn. Errors all the way around. I've only tried burning the DVD-RW discs (I hesitate to ruin one of the DVD-Rs).

Here is the logfile from the last burn attempt.

Well lets see, you have a drive from unspecified origins, probably a IDVD16DD which is apparently a relabeled BTC 1016IM there's been alot of conflicting reports about the A188 firmware, however the A089 reports are favorable. Unfortunately BTC has stopped supporting the drives But you can get the firmware here
So I would suggest updating the firmware first, then see how it goes.
