As mine is an external usb2 burner, I don't think dma is relevant, or is it?"

thanks for replying. Just a quick question before I do this. I used to use sonic record now dx when I first started burning dvd's. I since switched to nero, which I now use for all my durning to dvd's, be it dvd video or just plain old data to a dvd disc. There is, however, one element of the sonic package that I use maybe once or twice a year. It is sonic, my dvd. The only part of this that I use is the program for making photo slideshows. I find it very good compared to a lot of others that I tried. Anyways, the slideshows that this particular part of sonic produces are burned to a cd with my cdrw drive. What I'm wondering is, if I disable this driver, will I still be able to use the slideshow maker with sonic and burn to cd(with sonic) or will I have to seek an alternative program, which I have looked for in the past and have not been sucessful. Once again, thanks for all of your help so far.

Nope, if you want to be able to burn with the sonic program, leave that driver alone. Also don't run that RoxiZap program since it will clean out folders etc. that get left over even after uninstalling Roxio/Sonic software.
fair enough, thanks man. I'm thinking about getting a new pc soon anyway. This one only has a 40 gb hard drive and as a result it becomes defagnented very quickly. I'm gonna go for one that has at least 250 gb. Cheers for helping me with the other driver issue.
