I saw this post in another thread and it is related to a problem I'm having. Didn't want to hijack that thread and so am starting a new one.
Does this hold true even if the burner is set to booktype DL media to DVD-ROM via the firmware? I ask because my burner (a NEC ND-3500A) is set to booktype DVD+R DL media to DVD-ROM but my first attempt to burn a Verbatim DL disc resulted in the disc still set as DVD+R DL. I never had to use the bitset stuff in DVDD on SL +R discs to get them to burn with booktype DVD-ROM. At least not that I recall (my memory isn't what it used to be).
I'm afraid to try another until I get some more info about this. Any comments would be welcomed.
If you are using Verb DL+R's you have to change the booktype/bitsetting for your burner in DVDD to make sure that the DL+R's gets burned in the DVD-ROM format. The setting is down next to the write speed, looks like a little book, in DVDD. Select your burner then select the type of media, DL+R's/DVD+R's, that you want to change to DVD-ROM. You only have to make the change in DVDD once.
