Logs were turned off, though I didn't doubt the quality of the burn.

Hardware issue? What should I look for. My box is a pretty good BYO.
Asus P4C800-E is the Mobo.

It's only about a year old, but I'll check into it.

1. What would you suggest to clean it with please?

2. Would a dirty laser make it skip, only at the LB?

2. Not usually, but at the edge of the disk your DVD is most vulnerable (although your pic shows a good burn - as we expect of Verbatims! Except, as you can see, the PIFs are, on occasion, a little high - the standard says no sector should have more than 4 PIFs. However, this is not happening around the LB)

Actually. On a BenQ I believe the standard to be, not to exceed 16, so I should be golden. Hence the QS of 95.

Something interesting: I noted that if I play the disk from the beginning in the Sony, it will play through the LB fine. However. If I then rewind to before the LB, once it gets to the LB again, it will skip to the next cell/chapter. Go figure. Something is a bit touchy.

The standard (put out by OSTA) is not a standard for particular burners. But for all disks.

Sounds like a touchy player - you're right.

Standard: OK. I'm not explaining it right. I know that on a LiteOn, PIF should be max of 4, but on a BenQ (and others) max PIF can be 16. Something about ecc of 8, as opposed to ecc of 1. Rats. I'm sure that you understand, LOL.

Had something weird happen. Bet you'll understand. I burned the 1st copy with LB defined in ImgBurn as 1758560. Then I burned another copy, but put the LB at 1651760 by mistake. In DVDDecrypter, it shows the LB as being in different places in both disks (makes sense), but in IfoEdit it shows the LB in the exact same place, and it indeed is in the same place when played. Freaked me out at first. I'm sure that there is an easy explanation for it. Right?

Hope you don't mind my little wanderings. Just trying to pick up all I can...thanks to people like you.

IMHO, the quality score is just a little calculated scoreboard - they can calculate it any way they like for whatever drives they like and if it makes users feel good, so be it.

However, in my book, the real thing is PIs and PIFs adhereing to OSTA standards.

Btw. If I read the disk I posted in my LiteOn, my PIF will all be under 4. So which to beleive? Heh. From what I've gathered, the scoring is different for BenQ and Plextor, but ultimately mean the same thing.

rbrtpl: Have you tried (sure you have) TY 002's or MCC003's. I get 97-99's with those, but my total PIE is about 6-11k and 100-300 PIF. Your PIE totals are kinda high. Not that it really matters.

Oddly for me, my best score is with TYG02 which is -R media. I don't typically use due to the lack of bitsetting. But wicked good readings on the 1640.

PI failures are the most important measure after factoring 1 or 8 ECC.
That wasn't my burn, also have to account for the scanning hardware.
My nec isn't probably as good a scanner as your Benq. One of my burns.
Notice my PIF average! TY burned at 4x NERO! IMGBURN gonna have
it's work cut out for it.
