I don't doubt your excellent burns on selected media, I get the same kind
of results, however the range of media is too narrow.
If what you say is true, why would the nec make fair/good burns on the same media that the LG does not? It's an issue of compatibility, I would think.
I personally think the LG's mad at me for leaving the ritek g04's and TY
clones next to it all week, I have moved them away and put the authentic
TY's in their place. Will it ever forgive me?

@blu the ritek issue may be old stock/new stock older is better, way better

The secret is in the firmware. Have you guys checked the supported media codes in the drives firmware?

Liggy's/dee's hacked nec firmware has an extra entry for Yuden T02,
revision 1, that the LG firmware lacks,
dvdidentifier says media code is ...YUDEN000T02.8 ?????
12x burn with LG worse than 8x
16x burn same story.

revision 1, that the LG firmware lacks,

12x burn with LG worse than 8x

Liggy and Dee do some nice work! If the LG model burner is supported by MediaCodeSpeedEdit by Ala42 you can add it to the LG firmware.

Problem is it ain't gonna make the stuff grade A media, they may have brought everything else from Japan to the HongKong plant, but not the
Japanese. Toyota, Honda, Nissan and Mercedez probably all had the same problems here in America, but kept control of quality.
