Nero never uses those ASPI drivers from Adaptec. It only uses it's own Wnaspi32.
Problems burning with Nero

@ Cynthia
By coincidence, this weekend after trying out the last Nero 6.6.0.16, I returned to my trusted 6.3.1.25. Used Nero Clean Tools to make certain that the installation was clean. But starting up Nero there was no DVDRW visible. Somehow my ASPI was damaged, Nero stated. I re-installed 4.60 and everything was o.k. I'm still running ME, and in my case Adaptec obviously still plays a role with Nero.

Bad news is I am still having the same problems. I really appreciate all the guidance you have given me so far. Many thanks. I have tried burning to decrypter, using different media, encoding to the hard drive and then manually burning to nero, uninstalling nero and reinstalling. Still no luck. I have attached the latest error log from when I tried to manually burn. Any more thoughts would be appreciated.

Andrew,
I'm sorry to say, but I'm beat. Maybe it's the drive that has kicked the bucket. Have you done any drive diagnostics?

video memory??????????
windows me shouldn't be using much memory,
what else is hogging it all?
A couple of years ago I tried setting an Me computer up for
video editing(mostly pictures) and burning, the lady had done
a clean install, I upgraded the ram to 256 megs, she had a HP P3 1Ghz.
I never could get nero or paint shop pro to work right.
Loaded W2k, everything worked fine, that was my last go round with
Windows Me!Comment

Thanks again for the support. I am starting to come to the conclusion that it must be a drive issue. How do I test the drive diagnostics?Comment

My cousin came to me with this same EXACT problem, long story short, originally we thought it was hardware since nothing changed software-wise, so we tried different discs, nothing... then he gave me his computer, which i STILL have, anyway here's my findings, as far as hardware goes, I tried everything under the sun, it's not a hardware issue, at least it wasn't for him, software-wise all I really did was tried re-installing nero and DVDshrink... anything dealing with the decryption doesn't seem logical to me since it decodes FINE it just can't burn, the firmware on the drive, no idea why THAT would make a differience... so I figured hell maybe a reformat will do the job, you never know, only i didn't want to reformat the computer so i just partitioned the harddrive dual booted the system went to the clean install emulating a reformat installed nero and DVD shrink... burnt 6 DVD's without a hitch.... final verdict, I've no idea what the issue is, but if you're willing to do the extreme a reformat will fix itComment
