Nero Burning failed

[Civilian]

Untill recently Nero rarely failed burning the DVD. I've been reading a lot of posts on this website and they have been really helpful. (especially enabling DMA)
I dont know how to read the Nero error log and actually find out why it failed.
The media im using is in the 2nd category according to the link on the "Golden Rules".

Lotsa things here - easiest if you read the golden rules of burning in my signature and implement the recommendations, esp updating Nero and changing those disks - the Ritek G05s were known to be poor.

However, you appear to have a hardware error (Code **040903) - your drive might be on the way out. Maybe clean it. Also, check the IDE cables.

I'm not sure if my drive would be able to accept that firmware because it says Dell OEM Drives only. Fujitsu-Siemens OEM drives only
But that may not be an issue at all.
Will this firmare upgrade work for my drive?

I saw that my Dvd brand was in the second best in your signature list didn't know that my specific model one was bad.
I will install the updates for Nero.

If you are going to get that media to work right, firmware is a must!

My laptop is somewhat custom. I think the model is cl-56 im in no way sure about this. i got my laptop from powernotebooks.com
I dont know what u need to know about it unfortunately.
I could give you the specs but i dont think i would provide what u need to know. I purhcased it about a year back and i wasn't able to find my model on their website.
Obviously i dont want to ruine my drive so im intimidated to update the firmware.

It's pretty hard to screw up a firmware. If it's no good, on most occasions, you can go back to the last one you had.

If you want to be in the DVD burning biz, it's a must to have up to date firmware.

If it's an exe, just do it from windows. Drop the new firmware onto the desktop and run it.

Please, no disk in drive. Afterwards, reboot.

Yer right - I've just read the readme. You may need to pop the file onto a CDROM and see if you can boot that way. You may need to change the BIOS boot settings.

LG had NOTHING on their website, if he has a floppy drive make a startup disk
with it and set to boot to it.
