    "Nero API version: 6.6.0.16"
Update your version of Nero, they are up to 6.6.0.18 now. Go here and download "Update-Package 1" - http://www.nero.com/us/nero-up.php

    "Recorder: DVD16+/-DL4RWlD2 Version: JWS5 "
Update your firmware. You are 1 version behind. Go here and download "JWS6" - http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=2082

Make sure you have the latest firmware for your burner. That will ensure more media compatibility.

    Installing your firmware:

    1. Don't run any other programs at the same time
    2. Don't have any disc in your burner at the same time
    3. Restart your PC after you have flashed it.

    "Physical memory : 511MB (523264kB)
    Free physical memory: 120MB (123012kB)
    Memory in use : 76 %
    "
Free up some system memory. All of those icons next to your PC's clock. Right click on them, then left click on "Exit" before you start burning. You can also go here to learn how to stop these programs from starting up everytime you reboot. - http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?t=56373

    "11:53:30 AM #19 Phase 36 File APIProgress.cpp, Line 276
    Burn process started at 8x (11,080 KB/s)"
    Try burning one at 2X.

      Firmware

Thanks for the reply. I do have a question about firmware. At the site where you download the update for the firmware it says for advanced users only. Something about really messing things up if you don't know what your doing. Is there a post that gives good directions on updating firmware or can you give me some advice. Thanks again!!

Just read the readme that came with the firmware - it's not difficult. http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?t=50100

        2 other things:

        1. Change the burn speed to 4x max
        2. Get new media! Many people have a troubles with those Ritek G05's

Read and implement the Golden Rules of Burning.

          question about burn speed

When using dvd shrink, I have the option of burning at maximum, 1x, 2.0x, and, 2.4x. Why can't I burn at say 4x or 6x. I have not seen an option except the ones I have listed here.

Well, you are burning at 8x. This could be to do with the rated speed of your disks (not in this case - they are 8x disks) but may also be due to your firmware.

If I burn at max. I am burning at 8x. Sometimes I have to burn at 2.0x. I am getting ready to try to update the firmware so maybe that will fix the problem. Thanks!!
