Problem with Burned Discs

OK. I burned the first of the two discs. It is going crazy on me. The only player it plays in is my PC. When I put the disc in my Panasonic player, it just says "loading" forever. I came back 10 minutes later and it was still "loading". In my Samsung DVD-L70 portable player, it loads for a minute, and then goes to the menu. When I select a title, it freezes. Why is this happening?!? I am using Verbatims, reccomended by the experts, and I burned at 2.4x using DVD Decrypter. It verified it and everything.

PS - I don't know if this is why, but on the bottom of all 10 DL discs, there is a "spiraly" pattern - it is not solid colored. It looks like a bunch of oddly-shaped circles inside the purple data layer of the disc. Are these discs bad? The Memorexes I bought are just a solid color.

And as for the -ROM I am not sure. I just opened Decrypter in ISO Write Mode and then loaded the ISO and hit Burn.

Hmmm. I clicked on that little book, and it said to select my drive type. I have a Samsung TSSTCorp something drive. There is no Samsung OR TSSTCorp on there. What do I do now?

And how come on normal discs, I do not set the book type either and it plays fine?

did you choose the .mds file or the .iso ?
do you use -R discs for single layer? if so , you cant change the booktype on -R's and its not necessary.

There was no MDS file, so obviously I chose the ISO. I use DVD+R Single Layer and they play fine. For DL I am using DVD+R DL.

What setting do I use for my drive, as there is no Samsung under that list that comes up when you click on the book.

Burn log?

That drive has not got the best rep.

I have Verbatims. That is what didn't work. As far as burning, it burned fine and verified it. Does it save the burn log? Because I never save them unless the burning stops.

It could have to do with that booktype thing though.

Just get the setting to save the log. It is in c:\Program Files\DVD Decrypter\DVDDecrypter.log

If it verified, it should be OK.

Check it out in other players you or your friends might have. Might be the player.

this sounds typical for a disc that hasn't had the booktype changed to -rom.
if you used decrypter what mode did you use to read the original disc?

I authored the disc myself. As for firmware, how do I tell?

And I tried it in another player - did the same thing. So it isn't that. I want to know how to change the booktype for my drive so the next one will work.

Excellent strategy Chewie, using my own posts against me. LOL! See, I do not need new firmware to burn normal 8x discs. Not sure about DL's though because I am new with DL's.

Still don't know how to find the firmware.
