Good news :
Firmware US06 is supporting DVD-ROM bitsetting under Nero & Pinnacle application (user needs to upgrade to the latest version of Nero/Pinnacle).

See here - Videohelp doesn't say it supports bitsetting. But try the new firmware as the looie says.

Read the readme in the firmware package. Again, there's an FAQ on firmware installation. The FAQ index is a good thing to bookmark drf - or click on the link in my signature.

I downloaded that EXE app for firmware flashing - will try it soon.

These pages are only for advanced users. Bad flashing could destroy your drive definitively. Read carefully the installation notes of your firmware before you upgrade. The Firmware Page and the drive manufacturer can't be responsable on REMEMBER: This is at your own risk!!!!

This is why I do not want to just find an answer somewhere - it might be for something else, and then I would hurt the drive.

Is that your drive? Then DL the flash utility at that link. It will help you install it.

If you feel you are risking too much don't do it. That is your choice. However, lots of people flash their firmware every day.

I just installed the firmware and nothing happened. It said that it was successful and to restart the PC, which I did. It still shows that there is no firmware in the Device Manager and DVDD. Why?

And about the bitsetting - if all the firmware works in is Nero, how do I burn the disc then?

BTW - I just tried the disc in my standalone player. It played, but skips every second or two.

So, the disc is bad somehow.

Might this have something to do with it? It tries to automatically set a layer break in Decrypter, so it doesn't read it from the ISO.

Create an MDS. Burn with ImgBurn and set the bits. Reset DVD Decrypter to defaults (except change auto search for upgrade to no).
