I was having the same problems with copying backups that I created with DVD Shrink. I was initially using Shrink to make the copies also. I used the method that jmet recommended at the following link and didn't have any more problems.
Not sure exactly why it worked different other than the ISO mode takes an exact duplicate and doesn't modify the backup in anyway. I also had to manually change the disc writing speed down to 6x, even though the discs were 8x because of errors.
ok, thanks...what kind of problems do the GO5s have?
i assumed even if the media is bad, as long as you do get a successfull copy it is not going to become a bad copy by sitting unused for a period of mere months is it?
RiData DVD-R RITEKG05.... DVD Media compatibility and comments.
g05
looks like a lot of user error
I know my r04's weren't very good when I first used them, after a few firmware adjustments and poor initial burns at 4x, things settleddown and
I am burning around 95-96QS's at 8x.
As a rule, I am trashing the first few burns after a firmware flash or new media.
when ridisc launched the extreme G05 advertised as Grade AAA i started using them again , just to see if they had gotten any better as the first releases were terrible. the extremes were very good, giving better scans than taiyo yuden TYG02's, that has all changed again over the last 3 months. they are going from bad to worse and i will not be buying them again.
i am now using verbatim 16x and taiyo yuden TYG02 and 03.
iv been looking at some of the problem backups in nero CD-DVD (wish i discovered this a year ago!) and they dont look good. however they are not entirely consistant...
one always has a poor graph, in scandisk it had 9 errors and some red blocks near the end one time, but now seems to be error free...it gave read errors in shrink the other day but today i backed it up through shrink without error and the resulting disk had a better graph and no red blocks...if i can get some of the problem disks to copy without read errors onto better media will it actualy be a better quality backup/movie as the above suggests, or is the damage already done??
also, in the above example, the problem backup has 22 files and 2 directories...but the copy i managed to make has 22 files and 1 directory...what are directories, where did it go, and will i miss it!?? it seems fine but iv not watched the whole disk...
