Nero "upgrade" is not!

I have just updated my Nero installation to 6.6.0.18 and everything seemed fine...... My first backup to DVD+RW following the "upgrade" would not play on my stand alone. I tried again using DVD-RW, same story. Suspecting that the rip and split for this title may be the problem, I burned a previous DVD that was still on my hard drive. This title had been burned to DVD+RW with the previous version of Nero and this played on my standalone with no problems, however, the same files burned to DVD+RW with the "upgraded" version of Nero would not play on the standalone, therefore the culprit is the Nero upgrade.

The disks spin up in the standalone (Pacific 1002), but then stop after about 30sec, they will play in my PC, disks burned with previous Nero incarnations still play OK in the standalone.

I will uninstall Nero and re-install an older version, but this means that I will no long be able to upgrade.

Has anyone else seen this problem?

Post your Ner0 log please! It is in C:\Program Files\Ahead\Nero\NeroHistory.log

Your DMA might be off. Read and implement the Golden Rules of Burning.

I have put the .18 on three computers in the last month, no problems here.
All bittsetting glitches have disappeared.

Thanks Chewy, have you burned any movie backups using RWs (of either type), with these installations? I ask as I have not tried burning any data format DVDs, only movies and only RW.

Looks like my DMA is OK Blutach, see below for the logfile for the last burn.

Considering Nero 7 is now out there will probably be no further V6 updates, so unless someone can spot something obvious, I think that I will uninstall 6.6.0.18 and reinstall up to 6.6.0.12, that version was working fine for me.

Hmm, well the only change in a formerly rock solid system was the 6.6.0.18 upgrade, since I have just ordered a BenQ 1640 to replace my 1620 I think I'll just reinstall Nero to 6.6.0.12 and satisfy myself that everything is OK once again before I install the new burner. That way I'll be dealing with one variable at a time which will be important as I'll certainly want to modify the f/w on the new burner.

As for InCD, I thought that I had uninstalled that quite a while ago, does it leave remnants that need special utilities to remove?

Thanks Blutach, I'll give the InCD cleaner a whirl, if it does not cure the problem I will perform the "ungrade".

Nobody else seems to have had problems with 6.6.0.18, so it looks as though it may be something idiosyncratic to my system or standalone.

I must admit I've always just used Nero as it has never let me down before and it does not require the extra ISO conversion step. I suppose it's a bit lazy of me not to have explored alternative routes, but once I had a stable and reliable (up till now!), backup system I just used it.

Switching to decrypt or imageburn just sidesteps the real issue.

my log is missing these, nero works fine for me, every update gets better.
I won't go to 7 for at least 6-12 months tho.
