    Newbie question about Nero 7

I have been trying to burn a disk from a avi file which I have converted to dvd, I start shrink and it goes through the process...then nero comes in and it attempts to burn, however it bombs out and here is the error log....any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Welcome to the forum.

Until now, for what I know, so don't take it as an absolute statement, the only solution to nero 7 problems is to revert to nero 6.

Try to do a two phases process.

First create an ISO file with DVD shrink, and then burn this file with nero without using shrink. Maybe this can solve your problem.

      update your firmware
A leader in design and manufacturing of desktop and mobile technology products for over 20 years.

if that doesn't work(it'll get you further into the burn)
      buy better media or slower

ahhh, I tried the iso image above. It bombed out as well. The strange thing is this burner worked great with the current disks I have. I just reloaded the machine recently and am now attempting to burn with it again, and now it doesn't seem to work. It will burn normal CD's with XP's built in software, just not dvd's as of yet with the reload of op system....

I used nero info tool and here is what it found.

Looks like the link you provided has the firmware for me....at least the 054 is listed, however it's greyed out and I can't click on it. Thanks for all the quick replies...

it's grayed out because they don't want anyone to use it, btc has
              dropped support?

              is it an iomagic? btc??

were the disks off the same spindle?

edit! you don't want the 54, it's old and probably bad.

ahhh...so is it safe to assume that I could you one of the other versions? I haven't messed with this firmware stuff before.

I bought this burner so long ago. It says micro-advantage on the top of it. I just google'd it and found http://www.microadvantage.net/consum...1&view=support I'm going to apply all the firmware and software updates. I will post back when done.

You da man!! The firmware upgrade worked...

Now I just have to figure out the format issue, it will play on one dvd player but not the other. I believe the one it won't play on, only reads +R... So, I will work on that. The burning portion works great. I did the iso thing first, haven't tried to use shrink directly yet, however it should work fine.

                  Thanks agian Chewy!!!
