After the DVD is burned help please!

Hi all! First I would like to say GREAT SITE!! I LOVE IT!!

Obviously, I'm a newb....and a "techtard"!

My issue is...once I've burned the DVDs and go to watch them, some are fine, but others about half way through or close to the end starts to get all digital and messed up. They stop and no matter what I do, they won't play past those points. So, later...I will go to watch the movie, and it's fine! It happens in my expensive Sony DVD player and in my el cheapo Samsung player! Any suggestions?

Thank you very much for your response! I burn with DVD Decrypter. I read your link and found some great info!! I think it may be the labels!!

What media are you using? (brandname) There are some cheap ones that will just give you bad burns, and nothing else. Try Memorexes or Verbatims for good results.

The strongest possible causes...

-Bad media
-Burning too close to the edge
-Combination of bad media and burning too close to the outer edge.
-Use of too much compression. However, this usually shows up as pixellization and macro-blocking every time you see fast paced action, quick cuts, etc. When it is observed toward the very end of the movie, the three choices above are more likely.
-Bad burn, because burner is going, or laser is dying. However, these errors are typically viewable throughout, and not just at the end. When it is observed toward the very end of the movie, the first three choices above are more likely.
-Bad burn, because of multi-tasking, or perhaps because you are trying to burn too fast (16X, for example), or perhaps because you are trying to burn on a system with weak RAM or limited hard drive space or a slow priocessor. However, these errors are typically viewable throughout, and not just at the end. When it is observed toward the very end of the movie, the first three choices above are more likely.

Except on the crappiest of crap, 4300Mb should be low enough.

I go for the max available 4434 I think? Whatever Shrink uses, I use

4482 here (though it always turns out about 4475 with DVDRB). Nary a bad burn (don't use crappy Memorexes though - BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA)
