Erasing DVD+RW's

How do you do this? Is Nero any good - I know that Nero is good at physically erasing a CD-RW, even though it takes like 25 minutes.

I use the Nero CD-DVD speed tool to erase any disks. Do you use the Full Erase or Quick Erase ??.

I always use Quick erase which is done, like in few seconds.

Full erase takes more time but should be used just in case Quick erase doesnt work.

DVD Decrypter erases an RW in 15 seconds, as does ImgBurn, Ner0 Burning ROM and many other progs.

Erasing it in 15 seconds is not a full erase... a full erase in Nero takes about 20 minutes for a CD-RW. All I know, is when I go to burn onto the disc, it takes another 20 mins in ImgBurn because it has to erase it first. How do you erase a disc without burning something?

Why bother with a full erase and re-format drf?

In DVD Decrypter, Tools - Drive - Erase Disk - Quick (or Full if you really want to waste time)

But, if you use Quick, don't you have to re-erase it before burning (ImgBurn erased the discs when I first bought them, before it burned)?

I did a full erase in Nero in just 20 mins.

Nope - quick allows you to re-record immediately. Try it!

Why did it need to "erase" the discs, even when they were brand new, right out of box? Are they not formatted?

Yes, they are - there's no need whatsoever.

The first time a DVD is used, the program will format them for use then burn them them (just like a hard disk needs formatting before data can be loaded onto it). After that, a quick erase will do each time.

but i tried the nero version it tells me this is not an erasible dvd or something like that please help?

try imgburn - I have ruined a DVD+rw once or twice and had to throw it out

The best eraser is DVDInfoPro. I have had Nero create CRC errors on a +RW but not with DVDInfoPro with the same disc.

A DVD-RW does not need formatting when you first use it but a +RW does.

I haven't used Nero since you all told me not to LOL, when authoring it in Nero, I save to a HD folder and use PgcEdit to make an ISO and burn with ImgBurn.

Won't ImgBurn automatically erase the disc for you? If it is not erased?

All I have ever used is simply right clicking the drive in My Computer and clicking erase RW....has always worked for me, never have I had an error and it takes only a few moments.
