I was just wondering what the best media is. Ive been using TDK -R 8X 4.7GB. No problems with the discs in the past. but ive heard discs from Taiwan were the best? or maybe those were the ones to stay away from. im not sure. ive just heard alot about this subject and was just wondering what everyone else thought. I have used Memorex +R and they worked fine. I have not used any DL discs yet. anyone have any opinion about those?? i just found some Verbatim 4.7GB 8X +R 100 Pack for $32.99 are those any good?
What are the best blanks to use?

Verbatims are very good. Or you can try Taiyo Yudens. Some consider them the best. I don't know if there really is a "the best". What works good for one person gives someone else problems. The best thing to do is find one that your burner likes and stick with it.You can check Taiyo Yudens here: http://meritline.com/taiyo-yuden-dvd-media.html
They also carry Verbatims, Riteks, and a lot of other brands.
Whatever you decide, get good media. Some people have good luck with just about anything, but they are the exception, not the rule.Last edited by bill7621; 9 Jan 2006, 01:39 PM.Blessed are they who expect nothing, for they shall not be disappointed!Comment

Media info
I don't know if anyone posted this before, but I was researching media recently and came upon this site which seems to support recommendations already made here above. The important thing is the media ID that identifies the manufacturer.

Doesn't the package identify the manufacturer too? Like, if it is a pack of Verbatims... it was made by Verbatim...
Sorry if that's not what you mean.CYA Later:

If you read through that link I gave above, well I can't speak for how reliable it is, but it states for example that Verbatims were made by Matsu****a (sp?), code MCC or MKM, then were made by CMC, then went back to MKM again. Most others appear also to outsource to a small number of actual manufacturers of the discs.Comment

LOL! Wow that is a lot of stars! Anywho, Maxell and Sony are both first class too. Although I use Memorex and that is second class, never had a problem with those.CYA Later:

@gunkie
The starts represent the forum software at work - this forum is read by anyone, including youngsters.
You may also edit your posts instead of posting 3 separate times. See rule 14.
And, indeed, that site is one which I trust - see Media quality in my signature.
As for memorex drf, it very much depends on the MID and the place of manufacture. There are good and bad ones.
