That shows all the brands of DVD media and says "good" "bad" or "OK", and you can see all the speeds. I believe it was at VideoHelp somewhere, but I cannot find it, and it is not in blutach's sig.

No, that's not it. That just tells you about the quality of MID's. The site I mean is, say you are thinking about buying some DVD+R's on sale. You just look for the manufacturer, and the speed, and it tells you whether it is good or bad - that is how you can tell that Memorex 8x is great while 16x is horrible.CYA Later:

DRF!
That's really the best way to research media if you spend a little time
plugging in different values, you can almost determine the MID of the media
they are selling, but things change. Then after you get to the store
look at the package for MIJ! sony fuji maxell etc
MIJ = MADE IN JAPAN the best!
but here in the usa just buy verbatim, no brainerComment

It is almost impossible to find Yudens in the USA at stores. My store sells Philips, Memorex, and Verbatim. God, I hate those people that work there saying Philips are good discs. Worst 20 bucks I ever spent. I am gonna take a printout of that site with me today and prove them wrongCYA Later:

What brandname carries TY media? All my computer store carries are Philips, Memorex, and Verbatim. (I used them in the same sentence again ) I highly doubt that any of those are TY's. I mean... are there brand names that use Yuden ID's or will they say "Tyo Yuden" on the package. If so, than no they don't have them here. When I go to the computer store, I'll take a pic of the shelf if you wantCYA Later:

Taiyo Yuden is the manufacturer as well as the dye. So they are actual TY discs. There are also other brands that use TY dye.
I think they are probably more common on the net than in actual stores.
Philips discs are excellent but they do know seem to use other people dyes now. I have Philips DVD+RW's that have been used on a weekly basis and are over two yeras old now.Comment

Philips uses CMC MAGs. Those are awful discs. If they make others, I have not seen them. RW is different, because if you get a bad burn you can always erase itCYA Later:
