DVD Burner will not recognize burned DVD-R

Just bought a Lite-On dual layer and will not recognize any of my burned DVD-R's. The +R's work though.

What is the best solution? Is there anything I can do!

    As always, thank you much!

      Its a Lite-On model SOHW-1693S1 4C dual layer burner.

My PC is a basic emachines that I have upgraded somewhat.

I coach youth football and made a highlight video using my laptop and burned it with my laptop also on DVD-R's. I just got this new burner so I could do it other than on my laptop. For some reason when I put on of the -R's in, its like the disc is blank; but there is nothing wrong with the disc.

I went to Lite-On and updated my firmware even though I did not need to.

Is there a possibility that this burner will not read burned -R's?

      Thanks!

In my opinion this is a media issue not related to plus or dash media, but to a bad burn.

Your burner is able to do so called scans.

Can you do a scan and post image here?

With cd-dvd speed (you can find here): it's free and don't require any installation. It don't require nero to work.

Simply insert your problematic disc on the burner, then select "Disc quality" tab. Select 4x as speed, and press the start button. After about 15 min, when scan finish, click on the little button on high right (with a little floppy) to save the image. Choose PNG format for the image.

You should obtain something similar to what I posted here

            Finally post here.
