Problems with dvd playback..video card issue?

    hey everyone,

my hubby got me a 16x iomagic dvd burner for xmas. i have been backing up with dvd decrypt and dvd shrink. the first couple dvds i backed up worked just fine. then all of the sudden the last few burned dvds were skipping and freezing in playback, even in my drive. then my computer began to crash when i would go into online games like pogo. i finally figured out from error report that it was my nvidia card. so i turned off the hardware accelleration per microsoft suggestions. so far no problems with playing online games. but my question is could my video card have been the cause of my burning problems? i dont even want to attempt to try to burn anymore and waste another dvd. should i take my puter in to the shop?..get a new card?..would that solve things? please help!

Were you burning at 16x? You shouldn't do that - use 4x to play it safe. And what brand of DVD are you using?

In Nero there should be a burn speed option. Maxells are bery good discs... not sure what the problem is. Maybe post your Nero log so the experts can analyze it?

I would check to see if their are updated drivers for your video card for the on-line game problem. IMO the video card shouldn't affect your burning proccess. Skipping/freezing is usually from a bad burn/bad media. I would get a compatible dvd -/+ rw to use untill you solve your problem.
