    Why does everyone hate nero??

More and more I am seeing people that dislike this program. I have Nero 6 and I have never had any major problems. The only problemed DVD's I have are my early back-ups. to the Forum Gods... without their help I would have never gotten through my first back-up!! I use DVD Shrink, DVDD, and the PSL2 Plugin when neccessary. But I see a lot of people on the forum submitting problems with Nero. Is it mostly trial version problems or out-dated versions? or is it that Nero is just not a good burning software? Im sure opinions have a lot to do with this subject. But in my 300+ back-ups I have never run into problems with my Nero. I mean yea my first back-ups are a little screwy. But thats before when I left out the menu's and special features. And played with programs I didnt know how to use. Thats the only problems with my early ones. So I was just really wondering if Nero wasnt the way to go anymore. Is ImgBurn a better program? or should I use DVDD to burn. or what?

If you look at most of those posts where they are posting Nero logs most of the time the answer to the problem has nothing to do with Nero at all.I personally never had a problem with Nero Burning Rom and we still use it to burn cd's.I just chose to start doing each of the stages of my backup process individually where you have more control and can find errors easier.I use (unless arcoss) DvdD file mode/FixVts/Menushrink/Dvd Shrink/ImgBurn.That's my own choice though. You could of course go with the old standby "if it ain't broke don't fix it".

As the author of ImgBurn said, the quality of burn does not depend upon
the burning software, my test of that was a waste of time. ImgBurn is
a few seconds faster? Uses less ram! About half. It is more bulletproof
from interference by other burning programs. For a nero user with a
underpowered computer and lots of potential problems, it may be the only
thing that will work. As long as I don't try a new version of nero and stick with the mature updates I see no problems with it and several advantages.
I prefer to watch(check out) my shrink results with powerdvd, so iso images
      aren't convenient.

For what it does, Nero is the best program out there, you can say the same for ImgBurn.

I guess the media effects that too. i never thought about that. People who had problems over and over again might be just using the wrong media. i have been using TDK 8X DVD-R and no problems so far. Just 3 coasters of the 200 discs. So what it comes down to is your opinion and which you prefer to use??

I think blutach is the only one here that actually "hates" Nero per say. I think it has something to do with Nero not leaving 32k gaps between IFOs and BUPs or something. However, this is not a problem, for in NeroVision Express (Nero's authoring program), you can always specify a HD folder instead of your drive, which makes the files like DVDD would, and then you can use PgcEdit to make the ISO and burn with ImgBurn if you are that picky on standards. However, Nero works fine for me, it even sets the booktype on +R's for you!

Sometimes Nero will give a DVD file reallocation error if it sees really small VOB files. By small I mean less than 10k. But the burn will still work fine. I have really taken a liking to ImgBurn. I use Daemon Tools to mount the iso and test it with PowerDVD 6 before the final burn. Cheers

                        Agrees strongly with gobama05

                        Ask yourself this folks:

How many problems are reported with ImgBurn? Where are all the threads that say "Help!!!! - ImgBurn makes a coaster" or "ImgBurn gives me reallocation errors" or "Can't burn with ImgBurn"?? Hmmm? There's not a one. It is bulletproof.

On the other hand, there are countless burning issues with Ner0. I mean literally thousands of threads.

Where's all the software developers who recommend Ner0? What does r0lZ and jdobbs say? Use Ner0 or ImgBurn?

Ner0 is popular cos you got it for free bundled with your drive. That's more than it's worth. They GOTTA give it away for you to be a fan of it.

Throw the bloated, overpriced Ner0 POS away and use ImgBurn. That's my opinion.

                        Regards
                        Les
