    Increasing burn speed......4x..6x..8x

I have never even tried burning at 8x till today.

when my burn started it started at 4x then moved to 6x and in the end sped to 8x.

Is this called a burned at 8x, is this Normal

Yes. Because of the fact that the inside part of the DVD would have to spin faster to get 8x speed, but it goes at the same speed, which makes it only go to true 8x later on.

You can really see the difference at 16x burn speed, starts at 4x also.
DRF is on the right track, the disk spins at a semi-constant rate,
the angular velocity of any part of the disk increases as you move out from the center. The actual graph of the burn is much more complicated.

That's why 8x burns aren't twice as fast as 4x burns, same with 16x and 8x.
