To all the experts in the media field, do you think I should stock up on Verbatims DVD+R X16 which are infact MCC, or should I start buying TY's from SuperMediaStore.com. I just question the validity of the Verbatims if no one has done any tests in awhile. The Verbatims are MCC, but still made in Taiwan, which leads to the factory probably still makes DVD's for other companies, but for whom?
Verbatim or TY?

I go a mixture, the +R's are too high online, so I buy Verbatim or Sony
and others that are MIJ. I prefer made in japan +R's/bitsett.
When I was redoing my library I used almost all TY(G02's & G03's) from supermedia. Why, I trust them more, they are more consistent and hopefully
will be more stable.
I have had a few bad scans with verbatim 16x mcc 004 and a couple with
sony yuden T02's. Bad for me is anything less than a 90QS.
If you can bitsett go for mcc 004 or yuden T02's. If you took over an hour
to do an important project and not worried about compatbility, use the
TYG0x's.Comment

here's an example of a bad burn with the verbatim, at least the very end is only credits, burned @ 8x with new nec 3550
and a good example of not burning to the edge or cropping creditsAttached FilesComment

In a box of verbatim +R 16x I find a disc with dirt in burn surface; it was a single dirty disc (I find only after making a scan, and I was forced to use water to remove this dirt), and I don't know how this is possible, but for the rest all discs were superbComment

here's the next verbatim off the spindle burned on same burner at same speed!
showing the inconsistency from blank to blank even with verbatimAttached FilesComment

Chewy, I just did some tests on my own. I am not an expert on Nero, so excuse me if I ask stupid questions. I was wondering what speed you used to burn your dvd's in your tests. I see the 8X, but I don't know if that is the speed you burned. Lets say you burn at 4X, but you set the settings on Nero to 8X or Maximum, what is that going to do?Comment
