I don't think you'll ever get a june 2005 media to work with a sept 2004 firmware. The disks are too new, the burner is too old.

when I searched that media I only found 2 people who had used it!
Both had good results with newer burners

the newer nec 1300(2004) firmware didn't support your media either.
                          Planned obsolesence?

A good rule of thumb is never buy 16x media for an 4 or 8x burner
