so much to fix, belongs in general computing, after flashing the firmware in safe mode and trying a burn at 8x.

That burn log was from Jan 26th so it doesnt show the latest firmware.

DMA? I thought I had that fixed. Hmm guess not. I'll be tackling that then I will burn a backup and post a newer log

The burner is on the same IDE 0 port as my C: Drive which only has windows and a few programs on it. IDE 1 has My DVD rom and a CD burner on it.

well that's a nono as they have to work over the same cable on any dvd burn.

Looking at it I have Nero on C: as well so I agree with ya that I should move it but I havent had any problems with it until I started burning at 16x.

But I m going to move the DVD burner to IDE 1 and flip the CD Burner to IDE 0.

                  It cant hurt

boy i cant wait for my new system

actually with no seperate controller for the pata hard drive, I would just use the
dvd burner on secondary master as both ripper/reader and burner. No copy on the fly.

well after looking at me case its gonna be a real pita to move the drives around

prolly be easier to reinstall Nero onto the D: drive

That way the C: drive only has Windows on it
the D: drive will be running Nero/Shrink
the J: drive (external) has the image files

                      how does that look

Nero's running completely from ram during the burn, the only problem is when
the main hard drive has to transfer or write large amounts of data with another drive on the same cable.

the J: drive (external) has the image files
                        slow and problematic!

Last night I backed up Alexander, and after watching it last night all went well at 4x plus my other last back up of Two for the Money finally took, also.

Chewy, I appreciate your suggestions and I would do them if I were not building a new system within the next month, but I think I'm going to turn this comp into my burning system so after I build my new one I m going to rearrange everything on this one, and reinstall XP and just use one hard drive on IDE 0 and the DVD burner and ROM on IDE 1 and move the RAID 5 array from this to my older system which I'm just using for a server anyways.

                          Attached is my latest log

Thanks everyone for looking at my problems.
