that's the number on the disk, usually authetic
the mid is a code written on the blank that only a dvd burner can see
            neroinfo will tell you

            but it's TYG02 for -R 8x's

Yes, cuz you can set the booktype to DVD-ROM. And why burn at 2x? Try 4x.

That burner isn't one of the better ones, use neroinfo tool and see what the firmware version is. With an updated firmware you should be able to burn those disks well. They are better than a lot of the best dvd+r
disks! Taiyo Yuden is made in Japan, and that's where all the best media is made.

Ha! That's the same drive I have. I just updated to version ts11 firmware and it helped me out tremendously. That link above is just what you need. Except you won't know this but you have a Samsung drive. So go to download firmware, Samsung, DVD recorder and arrow down until you see your EXACT drive numbers. click on ts11 and download to your desktop and I would go ahead and download the flash utility and run that program it will flash your firmware for you and tell you to reboot afterwards. I posted my results in this thread:

As you can tell I was pretty happy about my discovery.
